Hiring Trends On A Rise In US

According to a report by Aon Hewitt, employers in the United States are cautiously changing their focus from minimizing costs to growth strategies.

The report revealed that 45 per cent of them are planning to hire more employees this year than they did in 2010.

From in.finance.yahoo.com:

“With job cuts and unemployment stabilising, and business recovery on the horizon, HR executives can look toward strategically growing their workforces. Around 45 per cent of respondents anticipate slightly to significantly greater hiring volumes than in the past year,” according to a report by Aon Hewitt.

Aon Hewitt is the global human resource consulting and outsourcing business of Aon Corporation.

The survey, which covered 1,328 employers said only 16 per cent of responding organisations anticipate slightly or significantly less hiring this year compared to last and there has been an increased focus on the quality of candidates.

“As employers begin ramping up the number of hires, this is a great opportunity to significantly improve the hiring process,” Aon Hewitt Vice-President Jason Krumwiede said.

“We are seeing clients focus on improving the candidate experience, upgrading selection and assessment approaches that will yield increased performance from new hires, and redesigning the on-boarding process,” Krumwiede added.

Aon Hewitt Vice-President Amy Mills said, “As we emerge from one of the worst recessions in history, company executives must develop new leadership skills in order to improve workforce productivity and stimulate engagement.”
